I recently had the privilege to sit with an author who has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He saw something in me that compelled him to have an extended conversation with me, just days after we met.
As we sat down over breakfast, he began to share his philosophy of how he attained overwhelming success and international stardom from writing his book. This was no ordinary moment, as the inner-workings of his success were laid out on the table for me. What I did with it was solely up to me.
On the ride home I was excited, but focused, as I knew that this could potentially be a moment that could alter my current course in life. The blue-print was laid out, so I began to think, what can I take away from this situation?
I’ve been around my share of people in the self-development industry in many capacities, but I’ve never experienced information as concentrated as this, in such a short meeting. A philosophy is the inner-workings behind a person’s results in life. With general information in any given area, you can find your way, maybe? When you adopt a person’s philosophy you now afford yourself the benefit recreating what that person has already accomplished.
A philosophy is potent information with no guess work involved. If you have a choice of seeking a proven philosophy against general information, always choose the philosophy!
At times, people want the thrill of saying “I did it my way” in life, but this often turns into the long road to accomplishing your vision. The short cut lies in finding someone who’s done it, and applying their personal philosophy of how they have attained what you envision yourself having.
It’s an uncommon act of humility to adopt someone else’s way of doing things, but any uncommon act of humility is always a prelude to incredible increase. Look for ways to practice humility in the situations of life, and you’ll take leaps, not steps!
You won’t lose yourself when adopting someone’s philosophy; rather you will truly find yourself. Everything won’t be done exactly the way the other person has done it. The innate you will merge with the person’s way of thinking and create your unique imprint in the sands of the universe. To die is to gain immeasurably.
Information gives you the “how to,” while a philosophy reveals the exact science. The common threads of successful people are the ties that bind your success.
